Hurricane Season 2020 starting early?

Updated: May 15

This year we've seen a pandemic force the world to go into lockdown mode. A public health crisis has turned into an economic crisis as millions of people have lost their jobs. We are seeing levels of unemployment that we haven't seen since the Great Depression.

Now, it looks like we're in for some more bad news: an above average intensity hurricane season. According to meteorologists, there's a 70% chance tropical storm Arthur will form over the next five days.

Even though hurricane season is supposed to start on June 1st, for the past six years, there have been tropical storms in May. This suggests our weather will continue to become unpredictable in the future. Hurricane season 2020 starting early will not be an exception - it will be the norm.

Not only is it starting early, it's also predicted to be worse than normal. From Forbes:

"Forecasters from Colorado State University’s Tropical Meteorology Project, led by research scientist Phil Klotzbach, announced on Thursday that although there are 2.7 major hurricanes during a typical season — between June 1 and Nov. 30 — eight hurricanes are expected this year, including four major hurricanes, with winds of at least 111 miles per hour."

What are we doing?

Even though many businesses are closed, we at Orlando T Group are continuing to work remotely to provide hurricane protection before it's too late. We are providing digital estimates, we are taking window measurements from outside, we are dropping off and picking up paperwork left outside so we don't have to interact with customers.

All our installers are using personal protective equipment when they do the window replacement - even though they are not interacting with our customers.

Pandemic or not, homes still need hurricane protection this summer - we're here to help!

We expect a large influx of customers once businesses reopen - so contact us today to save your spot and have hurricane shutters or impact windows installed in Broward.
